We work closely with foresters and hunters, who may directly affect the lives of large carnivores in nature, whether positively or negatively. By increasing their awareness, we try to re-orientate their interest in bears, wolves and lynx from hunting to understanding the importance of these species in nature. A recent survey among foresters-hunters showed support for the conservation of large carnivores in Slovakia but with the possibility of hunting wolves and bears. This is a fundamentally different attitude to wildlife and nature compared with the rural populations of Western European countries (hunters and farmers) who do not want to accept large carnivores in their homeland.
